Every Contact record in your Leadfwd account will have an Engagement Status value and its purpose is to help you identify where each contact is at in their outreach journey. The Engagement Status data object is a system field that is automatically maintained by Leadfwd, therefore its value cannot be modified or changed manually by any user.
Engagement Status is maintained exclusively by Sequences and is not updated by direct 1:1 email campaigns or Automation workflow outreach.
Engagement Status values
Open |
By default each contact is assigned a status of 'Open' when they're initially imported into your Leadfwd database. A status of 'Open' will also be applied if a contact is unenrolled from a Sequence using Automated Workflow, Sidebar (Chrome Extension) or clicking Unenroll in a Sequence reporting view. Tip: It's important to note that a status of 'Open' does not necessarily mean Never Contacted by Sequence outreach. To determine if a contact record has ever been contacted you can leverage the custom data field properties: [firstWorking] and if no value is provided (blank / null) , that would indicate the contact record has never been contacted. |
Enrolled |
The status of 'Enrolled' is applied when a contact is added to a Sequence, but has not yet been processed and added to the the queue for 'Working'. With a status of 'Enrolled' a contact has not yet been engaged by the Sequence that they're enrolled. |
Working |
The status of 'Working' is initially applied when a contact is processed from Enrolled and moved into Step 1 of a Sequence. The 'Working' status is refreshed as a contact progresses through each Step of a Sequence. |
Responded |
The status of 'Responded' is applied when an email or sms reply is detected from a contact that's 'Working' in a Sequence. The status of 'Responded' will also be applied if a reply is received after a contact completes a Sequence. |
Unresponsive |
The status of 'Unresponsive' is applied when a contact completes every step in a Sequence but has not replied to any of the outreach. The status of 'Unresponsive' can be modified to 'Responded' if an email or SMS reply is detected after they complete a Sequence. |
Bad Email |
The status of 'Bad Email' is applied when any outbound email attempt results in a hard bounce (permanent delivery failure). In addition to the status of 'Bad Email' being applied, a contact's record status would also be modified to 'Bounced'. |
Do Not Contact |
The status of 'Do Not Contact' is applied when a contact unsubscribes from further communication. This action can be trigged by an opt-out link in an email, automatic DNC reply detection or by categorizing a reply manually as 'Do Not Contact' in Unibox. |
