Custom data field properties can be utilized to trigger automation workflows, modify lead scores, add contacts to segments and also to auto-fill personalization tokens inside of emails and text messages.
Create or edit a new custom data field
Important: When a new custom data field property is added to your Contacts list, the new field property is automatically added to every contact record. The custom data field properties do not need to be created per-contact and each contact record can have a different value for a custom data field property or no value at all (blank/null).
From the Contact Manager view
- Select the Settings view and click Manage Fields
- In the dialog at the top of the field manager, enter a name for your new custom field property
- Select a type: Text, Number or Date
- Click Save
Caution: Existing data field properties can be removed or their name edited. However, it's important to note that any changes in the label/name of a field will also modify personalization token tag value, which would need to be changed in your existing emails and email templates.
