Generate an OpenAI API key

OpenAI is the creator of ChatGPT and is the AI framework that is leveraged within the Leadfwd platform for GPT Powered Icebreakers and Inline Dynamic ChatGPT Prompts (Messaging).

In order leverage Leadfwd <> ChatGPT you need the following:

1. Leadfwd Pro+ Plan
2. OpenAI Account (Create for free)
3. OpenAI API Key

Leadfwd does not charge additional rates or tokens for using ChatGPT within our platform. Billing for your ChatGPT requests will be done directly between OpenAI and your organization through your Account and API Key. For updated OpenAI API pricing view this page

GPT-4 Access

As of January 1, 2024, OpenAI only offers its ChatGPT-4 model to subscribers of their Plus plan. Currently this plan is technically 'Invite only', however an easy way to be invited is to simply pre-purchase $20.00 USD in tokens. Within a few days, your invite will arrive.

GPT-3 Turbo Access

If you do not have a Plus Plan, you will still have access to the GPT-3 Turbo model. It's quite capable and quick, but it's not as up to date as GPT-4. 

Generate an API Key

Generating an OpenAI API key is very simple. This should be treated as a very sensitive password, so keep it safe and secure. Once you copy it from OpenAI, immediately add it to your OpenAI Connector settings in Leadfwd.

1. Log in at openai.com 
2. Select API from the traffic director page
3. Hover over the left side column to reveal the menu and select API keys
4. Click Create new secret key
5. Name your key (i.e. Leadfwd connector) and click Create secret key
6. Click the copy icon to add the key to your clipboard
7. Navigate to your Leadfwd account to Save the key in Settings > Integrations > OpenAI
