Google Analytics is a free tool that can be used to measure and report on traffic to your website. If you have a Google Analytics account setup for your site, you can also use it to track visitors coming in from the links in your email newsletters sent with LeadFWD.

In conjunction with LeadFWD's own reporting, that can give you a very powerful way of determining what your customers are interested in, what they look at and where you can improve. Linking your email campaigns to your Analytics account is straightforward.

Turning on the Google Analytics integration

Jump into the 'Settings' tab on the top navigation bar in your LeadFWD account. From the sub-menu, click on 'Integrations'.

From this screen, take a stab at which integration you'll click on.

If you have more than one domain setup with Google Analytics, you can add them in, one domain per line (no http:// or www. required). If you add the http:// or www, Google Analytics will not function for those domains, so just do mydomain.com or sub.mydomain.com. After you enter your domain(s), click 'Connect'. And Boom!

Now whenever you send a campaign, LeadFWD will automatically add Google Analytics tags to each link which is on the domains you entered above.

LeadFWD automatically takes the campaign name and makes it the Google Analytics utm source. Each link that goes to the domains you specified earlier will be tagged, and end up looking like this:

The utm_ parameters are generated from your campaign details and appended for you automatically.

utm_term - is the tag associated with the link (ex. Visit our site would be hyperlinked text a recipient would click to be taken to the designated URL)

utm_campaign - is the campaign name


utm_medium - is email


utm_source - is the list name of the respective target (list name from LeadFWD)

utm_content - is the campaign name plus a unique identifier, or the campaign ID

The greater connection between the action taken on the email and the following website actions can really help you understand more about the interests of your customers.
